Katerina Chatzimeletiou is an Associate Professor in Embryology and Genetics in assisted reproduction and Head of the IVF/ PGD Laboratory at the Unit for Human Reproduction of the 1st Department of Obstetrics/ Gynaecology of the Aristotle University Medical School at Papageorgiou General Hospital in Thessaloniki, Greece. She trained and worked in England for 14 years. She studied BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences at the University of Essex, U.K., MSc in Human Reproductive Biology with Distinction at Imperial College School of Medicine, London, U.K and PhD in Preimplantation Genetics and Embryology, at the University of Leeds, U.K. under studentship by the Foetal Medicine Foundation, London, U.K. She received training in clinical embryology prenatal and preimplantation genetics in London at Hammersmith Hospital, St Thomas’ Hospital, Queen Charlotte’s and Chelsea Hospital, St Bartholomew’s Hospital, King’s College Hospital, St George’s Hospital, ΤDL and in Leeds at LGI-The Leeds Teaching Hospitals. She was the Molecular Cytogenetic Laboratory Manager at the London Bridge Fertility, Gynaecology and Genetics Centre and holds a clinical Embryo Biopsy License by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA U.K.). She participated in the TV programme Τhe Human Body, produced by BBC and received the distinction award of clinical-laboratory work and novel methods and techniques from the Aristotle University for performing the world’s first cytoskeletal analysis of human embryos following vitrification. She has several publications in renowned Fertility and Genetics Journals- often as Front Cover Publications. Her research interests include preimplantation genetics, vitrification and stem cells.
